We believe it’s critical that you never feel isolated as a carer. The arrangements will be slightly different depending on the type of care you choose to pursue, but in all cases you will have your own link worker to support you. You will also be invited to attend a wide range of training sessions before and after you are approved. And of course there will be the support from your peers. We have a range of mechanisms in place to ensure that you can quickly and easily find a fellow carer to talk to whenever you feel the need.
We also provide competitive financial assistance. This isn’t something that we shout about because we want our carers to view this as an enabler rather than a motivating factor. But we don’t ever want the cost of care to stop someone from joining us. Our rates are reviewed each year and those quoted here are the most up to date.
The assistance comes in the form of an allowance to cover the cost of providing for the child or young person. In the case of fostering, you will also receive a fee in recognition of the service you provide. If you provide care to children on a short break basis you will receive pro rata payments.
